Position Summary:

Cimarex Energy is seeking a Business Operations Analyst in the Corporate Management Systems group, headquartered in Denver, CO.  The Corporate Management Systems group is comprised of multiple data systems responsible for tracking hydrocarbon production, operational efficiency, economic profitability and risk.  The BOA role is responsible for providing technical analysis utilizing a variety of inputs to aid in the decision-making process.  This role will gather, load, verify, manipulate and analyze data related to production, drilling, exploration, accounting, land administration & corporate reserves.  The candidate will maintain an ongoing interface with various organizational groups in areas such as decision analysis, technical needs, planning & execution. This will be considered an entry level analyst role. 

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Gather technical data and maintain large databases and datasets from multiple business units utilizing a combination of internal and 3rd party oil & gas software packages
  • Prepare weekly, monthly & quarterly operations analyses
  • Manipulate and report on complex financial and economic data metrics to meet ongoing organizational needs
  • Communicate both within the department and outside of the department as necessary to obtain and validate information and accomplish goals and objectives
  • Develop detailed and reliable analyses on investment decisions & interpret and explain variances in actual results compared to projections
  • Track, analyze and report activity on both operated and non-operated properties
  • Resolve basic database issues and demonstrate problem-solving ability
  • Employ solid understanding of the organization’s business operations to develop solutions and make recommendations

Skills & Experience:

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical Degree or 4-year college degree highly preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail with high level of accuracy
  • Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Access & Power Point
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Adept at managing multiple tasks and adhering to regular deadlines. Able to adjust priorities throughout the day.
  • Works well in a team environment, focusing on collaboration and adapting to the needs of a diverse team
  • Able to transform large sets of data into actionable information for decision support
  • Able to learn quickly and demonstrate a proactive attitude, showing and taking initiative and a strong work ethic
  • Should be able to work effectively on their own with minimal supervision

Preferred

  • Basic knowledge of oil and gas terminology & industry objectives
  • Working knowledge of oil and gas software packages, such as ARIES, Enertia and Tibco Spotfire
  • Basic understanding of economic principles is a plus
