Supervisor - Pipeline Construction


Position Summary:

This position provides management for the execution of all phases of pipeline construction projects in, but not limited to Culberson County, Texas and Eddy County, New Mexico.  Incumbent in this role has the latitude to use his/her extensive experience, judgment and teamwork skills to plan and accomplish goals. This position leads by example, influences behaviors, and builds relationships while directing the work of others.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

The following represents the majority of the duties performed by the position, but is not meant to be at all-inclusive or nor prevent other duties from being assigned when necessary:

  • Provides leadership and guidance for the execution of all phases of pipeline construction projects from planning to completion
  • Writes and reviews project work scopes and specifications, including cost estimates and budget development, sourcing and logistics
  • Directs the daily construction activities at construction work sites, including scheduling of workers, delivery of equipment and materials
  • Oversees and coordinates with outside contractors and vendors to ensure construction projects are completed within the given budget and timeframe
  • Interacts with personnel, such as Cimarex management, project development teams, Landmen, Reservoir Engineers, Facilities Engineers, Midstream Engineers, Field Supervisors, Inspectors, third party vendors and contractors to ensure projects are completed safely and on time within budget and to specifications
  • Other tasks as assigned

Skills & Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree or higher in related field preferred
  • Valid Motor Vehicle License
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in construction project management in oil and gas industry; pipeline project management preferred
  • Minimum of five years’ supervisory experience
  • Proven track record and experience in development of project plans, including work scopes, specifications, accurate cost estimating, budget development and efficiency
  • Preference in pipeline cost estimating preferred
  • Successful history of management of all construction activities at worksite including effective management of third party vendors and contractors
  • Problem solving skills with ability to deal with conflict and resolve issues quickly
  • Proficiency in computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office, including ability to create Power Point presentations for management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to effectively speak at meetings with contractors, inspectors and management is required
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced working environment with ability to balance workload with focus on priorities
  • Must be a team player with a focus on continuous process improvement on efficiency, cost reductions, and safety initiatives



This position is typically located in an indoor office environment.  Incumbents are required to travel regularly to construction and work-site locations which are typically outdoors.  Exposure to conditions such as extreme heat or cold is possible.  Employees must be able to physically and legally operate company vehicles.  Personal protective equipment including but not limited to head protection, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety shoes, and flame resistant clothing is required while at work-site.  Safety rules, including OSHA and DOT requirements are strictly enforced.  Some travel is required.
