Construction Foreman (Drilling)

Position Summary:

Incumbents in this position are responsible for supervising the daily activities related to the construction of drilling locations/pad sites  for drilling rigs, including but not limited to land preparation, road construction, and other infrastructure construction.  Work with landowners to find agreeable surface site locations.  Procures bids and evaluates bids for the complete construction of roads, entrances and locations.  Supervises, directs and coordinates employees and 3rd party contractors and monitors work progress and procedures to ensure safe and efficient operations.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

 The following represents the majority of the duties performed by the position, but is not meant to be at all-inclusive or nor prevent other duties from being assigned when necessary:

  • Meet with landowners to find mutually agreeable surface site locations.  Meet with surveyors and regulatory representatives to stake locations.
  • Schedules and coordinates work of employees and contractors
  • Responsible to ensure that construction operations and projects are performed in accordance with company procedures, as well as safety, environmental and other regulatory guidelines and mandates
  • Makes recommendations on construction location and selection
  • Supervises construction of pad sites, roads and other infrastructure. Includes oversight of land grading and leveling, building of frac ponds, water well drilling, water and rock sourcing
  • Supervises operation of heavy machinery and equipment, such as back-hoes, bulldozers, and graders; accountable to ensure machinery is kept in good condition and meets safety requirements
  • Responsible to maintain soil conservation and soil erosion protection standards
  • Other tasks as assigned

Skills & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; 4 year degree preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years’ industry experience; 5 year’s supervisory experience preferred
  • Current motor vehicle license
  • Must have strong leadership and coaching skills
  • Must possess the ability to solve problems
  • Must be detail oriented with the ability to multi-task with attention to accuracy
  • Must be team player that possess the ability to adapt to a changing and fast paced work environment
  • Candidates must live within a 60 miles radius of Hinton, OK or be willing to relocate to the area. 



Work is both indoors and outdoors.  Exposure to conditions such as extreme heat or cold is likely.  Incumbents in this position must be able to physically and legally operate company vehicles, forklifts and equipment. Employees must be able to perform work which requires walking, standing, sitting, bending, stooping, heavy lifting and climbing. Personal protective equipment including but not limited to head protection, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety shoes, and flame resistant clothing is required. Safety rules including OSHA and DOT requirements are strictly enforced.  Employees must be willing to travel and work extended hours on short notice.
