• Air Quality Manager

  • Position Summary:

    Incumbent is responsible to manage and provide leadership to employees engaged in activities related to air compliance programs specific to any/all emissions.  Has direct oversight and is accountable for daily functions which ensure the company’s compliance with regulatory requirements related to air quality programs.

    Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

    The following represents the majority of the duties performed by the position, but is not meant to be at all-inclusive nor prevent other duties from being assigned when necessary:

    • Mentors and provides leadership to Air/Environmental Team on matters related to Air Compliance and professional development
    • Oversees coordination of GHG program to ensure federal and state compliance
    • Has oversight of various compliance and inspections programs; and is responsible to ensure compliance plans are current and are utilized by Cimarex employees and third party vendors
    • Has oversight of LDAR Program and Title V permit compliance for natural gas plants within Cimarex operatorship or partnership
    • Oversees coordination and scheduling for all field compliance inspections (within the operations teams) for both Permian and Northern Divisions.
    • Oversees coordination and ensures AVO inspections for Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico facilities are conducted
    • Oversees the coordination and ensures Quad-O monthly inspections are conducted; and is accountable to ensure Quad-O (a) monitoring plan is current and is utilized by Cimarex employees and third party vendors
    • Oversees the coordination and scheduling of infra-red camera program for all Quad–O (a) and BLM facilities
    • Accountable for maintenance of infra-red camera databases to ensure accurate and current information is provided to the Air/Environmental team for annual reporting to agencies
    • Responsible for the quality assurance/quality control of data required for the air parameters for the ESH Scorecard and Cimarex Website
    • Accountable to ensure all required repairs are conducted within the stipulated/required timeframe
    • Keeps abreast of regulatory provisions and is responsible to ensure appropriate training and communications to personnel are provided
    • Is a participant on XEC Incident Management Team and ESH Plus Review Team
    • Represents the company while involved with governmental agency reporting, inspections, audits and industry associations
    • Regular punctual attendance is an essential function of all jobs at Cimarex
    • Other tasks as assigned

    Skills & Experience:

    • Typically requires 4-year degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry or Engineering; Combination of education and relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of degree
    • Minimum of 10 years related experience in oil and gas industry preferred
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary
    • Proven ability to lead and manage effective team
    • Strong interpersonal and problem solving skills are necessary
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Work, Power Point)
    • Must be detail oriented with the ability to multi-task with attention to accuracy
    • Must be team player that possess the ability to adapt to a changing and fast paced work environment


    Work is typically performed inside an office facility. Incumbents must be able to perform work which requires typing, walking, standing, sitting, bending, stooping and minimal lifting.  Exposure to conditions such as extreme heat or cold is not typical, but due to the nature of work is a strong possibility.  In the event that employee is required to physically visit areas where actual operations are occurring, such as drilling locations or producing well-sites, personal protective equipment including, but not limited to head protection, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety shoes, and flame resistant clothing are required.  Safety rules including OSHA and DOT requirements are strictly enforced. Employees must be willing to travel and work extended hours on short notice.
